Manulife: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

TORONTO (AP) — Manulife Financial Corp. (MFC) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $337.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 17 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 69 cents per share.

Core earnings, which adjust for certain recurring and non-recurring items, totaled 99 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.

The financial services company posted revenue of $8.35 billion in the period.
