COEUR D`ALENE, Idaho (AP) — COEUR D`ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Hecla Mining Co. (HL) on Thursday reported first-quarter profit of $29.9 million.

The Coeur d`Alene, Idaho-based company said it had profit of 5 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 4 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 3 cents per share.

The precious metals company posted revenue of $261.3 million in the period.
