The San Juan, Puerto Rico-based bank said it had earnings of 46 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.
The holding company for FirstBank Puerto Rico posted revenue of $311.9 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $241.5 million, also surpassing Street forecasts.
For the year, the company reported profit of $298.7 million, or $1.81 per share. Revenue was reported as $938.2 million.
