On a per-share basis, the Ottawa, Ontario-based company said it had profit of $1.79. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $2.87 per share.
The satellite communications company posted revenue of $111.4 million in the period.
Telesat expects full-year revenue in the range of $398.3 million to $412.9 million.
