Richmond mobile development firm Shockoe to open office in Miami

Richmond software development firm Shockoe is expanding into Miami.

The company, which creates mobile applications and works with companies to translate their ideas to mobile platforms, said its new office in Florida’s second-largest city will be focused on bringing in new talent in areas like conversational AI, augmented reality, blockchain and mobile app development.

Shockoe’s clients include American Express, Winn Dixie, Caribou Coffee and the PGA Tour.

“Shockoe will help ensure Miami continues to position itself as a technology center for the future, bringing in new jobs and opportunities for our community,” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said in a statement.

To commemorate the announcement, Shockoe said it issued a Richmond-created NFT from artist Hamilton Glass to Suarez that celebrates the “creative spirit and innovation that Miami and Richmond share.”
