On a per-share basis, the Irving, Texas-based company said it had net income of $5.98. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $5.91 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $5.83 per share.
The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $5.11 billion in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.66 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $7.85 billion, or $31.13 per share. Revenue was reported as $24.29 billion.
