Viewpoint: Business sector must lead through political, social chaos

A few months ago, we hoisted our banner on the front of our office building to commemorate 20 years since the start of my company, Curley Co., a strategic communications and public affairs firm. As they moved the ladder away, I could see all the way up 18th Street past K Street. The sun reflected off the buildings around me, the Washington Monument in my peripheral vision, and I was inspired.

Finding inspiration as business leaders in Washington is more important — and arguably harder — than it’s ever been. While the rest of the country feels the intensity of our divisive political climate, we work in it, day in and out.

On top of the political and social turmoil, we face the business challenges of inflation, the “great resignation” and quiet quitting. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
