Richmond’s Fringe raises $17M to expand

Employee benefits startup Fringe recently announced a $17 million funding round led by Chicago’s Origin Ventures and Charlottesville’s Felton Group. CEO and co-founder Jordan Peace told TechCrunch the company will use the new money to increase its headcount, develop new products and expand to new countries.

San Francisco’s Sovereign’s Capital, D.C.’s Revolution, Des Moines, Iowa’s ManchesterStory Group and Charlottesville’s Anchormark Holdings also participated in the round, among others, according to Fringe’s announcement.

Peace told TechCrunch he wants to boost the company’s headcount to 100 by the end of the year. The company employed about 80 in mid-November, according to Richmond BizSense.
