C-Suite Spotlight Award: Mei Powers

It’s a statistic no nonprofit leader wants to be reminded of, but likely can’t stop thinking about: More than one-third of U.S. nonprofits are in danger of closing within two years because of the financial harm inflicted by the viral pandemic, according to a study released earlier this year by research group Candid and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.

And no wonder — the overwhelming demand for services, combined with the loss of traditional revenue sources, pushed many nonprofits to the edge. But thanks in large part to the acumen, initiative, creativity and commitment to mission of Chief Development Officer Mei Powers and her team, Miriam’s Kitchen is firmly on solid ground.
