There’s a new most expensive home for sale in Greater Washington. This one, too, has a river view.

Just days after it closed the $48 million sale of River View, TTR Sotheby’s International Realty has replaced it with a new most expensive listing in Greater Washington. 

And this one, too, has a river view.

The former home of the Carlyle Group’s Richard Darman and his wife Kathleen, both of whom have passed, has hit the market for $21 million. The 3.8-acre McLean estate at 1175 Crest Lane, known as Easter Hill, offers views up and down the Potomac River, in addition to the four-bedroom, four-bath home where the couple raised their three children.

But the property is being marketed as an opportunity to build something new, said TTR’s Mark Lowham, the listing agent. Lowham was similarly behind the private $24 million sale in 2020 of Sam Donaldson’s 6-acre former estate in the 1200 block of Crest Lane, which is also likely to be rebuilt, he said.

“I think we’re seeing that for these premium sites along the river the market is indicating a value in the $20-$25 million range,”…
