Looking to shop local? These D.C.-area holiday markets have you covered.

While the region’s holiday markets were hit-or-miss last year as the Covid pandemic was still in its pre-vaccination period, local organizations and businesses large and small are back in nearly full force with their shopping events for 2021. 

Outdoor markets were more likely to go on in 2020 — the District’s annual Downtown Holiday Market, which takes up two full blocks of F Street NW, is one example — but others that set up indoors may have been canceled, or moved online. 

These types of shows can make or break artists’ and craftspeople’s years. The Downtown Holiday Market, which opened Friday and remains open for more than a month, typically sees between 65,000-70,000 visitors, according to its management company, Diverse Markets Management.
