National piano bar chain Howl at the Moon will open in Chinatown come spring even as it closes its longtime Baltimore location.
Howl at the Moon will open at 900 Seventh St. NW in space formerly occupied by Ping Pong Dim Sum, which closed almost two years ago. The D.C. location will be Howl at the Moon’s 16th location across the country.
The national piano bar chain, which opened in Baltimore’s Power Plant Live in 2001, will close that location on Feb. 29, according to a post on its Facebook page.
Howl at the Moon bars feature dueling piano players who encourage customers to sing along to a repertoire ranging from classics to pop hits. The D.C. location will cover 7,000 square feet and helps fill one of several large, empty retail spaces in the neighborhood. It sits just down the block from the now-empty former RFD beer bar and across the street from a now-shuttered Hooters. Bar Louie, the chain bar and restaurant inside the nearby Gallery Place development, also closed recently.
