D.C. gets new indoor play space, complete with bar and restaurant, in Ivy City

Ivy City is now home to The Lane, a new play space and social gathering spot targeting parents raising children in the city.

The Lane, founded by Molly Nizhnikov and Rachel Lubin, who both have two children of their own, occupies about 8,000 square feet at 1408 Okie St. NE and serves as a space for parents and caregivers and their children to play, relax and eat. The venue opens Saturday in the Northeast D.C. neighborhood.

The two-story concept features a spiral slide, a 10-foot climbing wall, a ball pit, a netted loft tunnel and a play area for babies and smaller children. Parents will also have access to a café and bar serving food and drinks and private spaces for celebration classes and special events. There is also an upstairs café and 2,000-square-foot roof deck with board games and arts and crafts that will feature special events during the warmer months.
