Dulles International Airport currently offers nearly 60 nonstop routes to international destinations, including Tokyo, Johannesburg, Moscow and Sao Paulo.
But thousands of people also travel from Dulles to places like Singapore, Kuwait City and Bangkok — only they have to stop and perhaps switch planes somewhere in between.
In the gallery above, see which currently unserved long-haul routes out of Dulles have the most traffic. OAG, an airline analytics firm, compiled the data for the Washington Business Journal.
John Grant, a senior analyst with OAG, noted this list could change soon as Vietnam Airlines Corp. is looking at adding service to the United States.
In the last few years, Air India has added a nonstop flight from Dulles to New Delhi and Cathay Pacific Airlines has started nonstop service to Hong Kong out of Dulles. Next month, Cabo Verde Airlines will begin nonstop service between Dulles and Sal, Cape Verde, a small island nation off the west coast of Africa.
