For Sherry Hwang, the opportunities of today’s technology landscape are a far cry from the ones she had when she began her career in the 1980s.
“It’s just so different now. Now you can go into the different realms of technology that you prefer,” she says. “There’s so much new stuff to learn. Not like in the old days.”
“The technology changes every day, so if you are not committed to your career and to catch up, you will be left behind,” says Hwang, president of Pyramid Systems Inc., a Fairfax agile development and cloud technology contractor. “We always tell our staff that if you want to stay with it, pick an area of technology to go in deep to learn.”
It’s that level of commitment that Hwang brought to Pyramid when she founded it with her husband, Jeff, in 1995, after years at a federal contracting consultancy.
