The Capitol Riverfront neighborhood’s new luxury hotel, Thompson Washington D.C., will debut in December.
The 225-room Thompson hotel will include a seafood restaurant from restaurateur Danny Meyer called Maialino Mare, a rooftop bar with river views and 7,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The architect on the hotel is the Washington D.C. office of Studios Architecture, and the interior design, which takes cues from the neighborhood’s Navy Yard roots, is by Parts + Labor Design.The hotel, located at 221 Tingey St. SE, has 17 suites, including two “Thompson Suites” that have their own private outdoor terraces.
The luxury hotel will be the highest-end lodging property in the neighborhood around Nationals Park, which mostly has limited service offerings, except for the Hampton Inn & Suites. Other hotels in the neighborhood are the Residence Inn, the Courtyard by Marriott and a Homewood Suites.
