WASHINGTON – Airport luggage carousels could soon get a little less crowded.
American Airlines plans to offer a baggage delivery service starting this week, USA Today reports, bringing passengers’ bags directly to their hotels, offices or other destinations.
The deliveries cost between $30 and $40 and are available at more than 200 U.S. airports and some overseas. Travelers can purchase the service with their ticket, or up to two hours before the flight.
“We think it’s a great product for business travelers who need to go into a meeting or office and don’t care to claim their luggage,” David Vance, American’s managing director-customer operations planning, tells USA Today. “But it’s also a great service for families traveling with children and they have a number of bags they’re having to deal with.”
The bags should arrive within one to four hours if the destination is fewer than 40 miles away.
