HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Marco Maldonado rushed for a career-high 112 yards and a touchdown and Colgate outlasted Georgetown 38-28 on Saturday.
Maldonado’s 25-yard score gave the Raiders a 28-14 lead late in the third quarter. Georgetown’s Danny Lauter threw a pair of touchdowns after that but the Raiders (2-5, 1-1 Patriot League) used Chris Gee’s 21-yard TD run and Luke Vogeler’s 42-yard field goal to hold off the Hoyas (4-3, 1-1).
Jake Stearney threw for 195 yards and a score for the Raiders.
Lauter threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns, two to Jimmy Kibble, who had 128 yards receiving.
Tymir Wynn had a pair of interceptions for Colgate including one in the end zone with two minutes left after the Hoyas had driven inside the 5.
The Raiders took the lead for good when freshman quarterback Alaks Sitkowski took his first snap as a Raider and went 21 yards for the TD and a 21-14 lead early in the second half.
Colgate is 20-1 against Georgetown, including 10-0 at home.
