No. 12 Ole Miss readies for LSU perhaps without Corral

LSU (4-3, 2-2 SEC) at No. 12 Mississippi (5-1, 2-1), Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT (CBS).

Line: Ole Miss by 9 1/2, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Series record: LSU leads 64-40-4.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Ole Miss is trying to continue on a path to a major bowl game and remain in SEC West contention. The Rebels have won two straight close games since losing to Alabama. LSU wants to build on a win over Florida during a farewell tour for outgoing coach Ed Orgeron, whose tenure ends with the season.

KEY MATCHUP

With Mississippi QB Matt Corral questionable for the game, one of the nation’s top running offenses could play an even more prominent role. Corral is the rushing leader on the nation’s No. 4 ground game, but Snoop Conner has run for a league-best nine touchdowns and Jerrion Ealy and Henry Parrish are also formidable runners. The Tigers rank 75th nationally in run defense, giving up 151.9 yards per game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

LSU RB Tyrion Davis-Price tries to follow up on his LSU-record 287 rushing yards last week against Florida. Before that game, Davis-Price had combined for 287 yards in the previous five games.

Mississippi’s Corral has been one of the top dual threat players in college football, but coach Lane Kiffin has been coy on his status for the game. Corral ran 30 times for 195 yards against Tennessee. He’s third nationally in total offense, averaging 363.0 yards per game.
