No. 6 Cowboys host Longhorns as class of the Big 12

Texas (3-2, 2-2 Big 12) at No. 6 Oklahoma State (4-0, 3-0), Saturday at 4 p.m. ET (FOX).

Line: Oklahoma State by 3 1/2.

Series: Texas leads 25-9

WHAT’S AT STAKE

Oklahoma State remains the Big 12’s best chance for the College Football Playoff and needs to stay unbeaten to remain there. A Texas win would be a blow for the league’s postseason hopes, but it would give the Longhorns a fighting chance at the conference title.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas wide receivers Joshua Moore and Brennan Eagles against Cowboys cornerbacks Rodarius Williams and Jarrick Bernard-Converse. Moore is the go-to target for Texas with six touchdown catches. Longhorns coach Tom Herman noted this week the Longhorns have struggled in man-coverage matchups, which the Cowboys like to play.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Texas: Tight end Jared Wiley. The Longhorns eventually are going to use more of the 6-foot-7, 255-pound sophomore and Saturday could be the perfect time to do it. Wiley has just six catches, but has shown an ability to sneak into soft spots for big gains. He’s averaging 24.5 yards per catch.

Oklahoma State: Chuba Hubbard. He’s the guy everyone is watching for the Cowboys. He ran for 121 yards and two scored against Texas last season but averaged just 3.3 yards per carry and twice got stuffed near the goal line. The Longhorns can get pushed around at the line a bit which could leave room for Hubbard to grind out a big game.

FACTS & FIGURES

The Cowboys defense allows 12 points per game, best in the Big 12, and rank No. 3 nationally in third-down conversions allowed. … Texas dominates an all-time series that has been tilted sharply toward the Cowboys of late.
