Jurors are deliberating in the murder trial of an Atlanta attorney who fatally shot his wife.

Jurors heard roughly four weeks of testimony from dozens of witnesses. Now they must decide whether they believe 75-year-old Claud “Tex” McIver acted intentionally when he shot 64-year-old Diane McIver in September 2016.

Prosecutors have said McIver depended on his wife financially and feared losing control and his lifestyle. The defense has said McIver adored his wife and called the shooting a tragic accident.

The couple was wealthy and well connected, and the trial has attracted considerable attention.

Tex McIver was a partner at a prominent law firm and served on the state election board. Diane McIver was president of U.S. Enterprises Inc., the parent company of Corey Airport Services.
