CAIRO (AP) — Saudi Arabia’s crown prince is visiting Egypt as part of his first tour abroad since facing international outrage over the killing of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi.
Egyptian state media say Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Cairo on Monday and was welcomed by President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.
Saudi Arabia is one of Egypt’s chief economic backers and both nations are taking part in a boycott against Qatar.
El-Sissi voiced support for the monarchy amid the fallout after Khashoggi was killed and dismembered in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, saying the media had played a “negative role” in the case.
Prince Mohammed has visited the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, and is to travel to Tunisia before heading to Argentina for the Group of 20 summit on Nov. 30.
