GREENSBORO, Md. (AP) — Officials say body camera footage of a black teen’s fatal encounter with law enforcement will be released.
The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday that media members will be shown the footage and 911 recordings. That comes after Gov. Larry Hogan said Monday that he and the family of 19-year-old Anton Black of Greensboro are seeking answers. It’s expected to be publicly released this week.
Black died in police custody in September. Police say an officer responded to a report of Black dragging a 12-year-old boy down a street. They say the officer told Black to release the boy and place his hands behind his back. Black released him and fled, but was restrained.
Police say Black began showing signs of medical distress and died. They say the cause of Black’s death wasn’t clear.
