Trial delayed for ex-coach accused of sex crime

WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) — A former youth basketball coach accused of having sex with an underage player has had his trial in Virginia postponed because a jury couldn’t be selected.

The Winchester Star reports that 49-year-old Norman Lee Blowe Jr.’s trial in Frederick County Circuit Court has been rescheduled for Jan. 6.

Court Clerk Rebecca P. Hogan told the newspaper that the trial was delayed after attorneys rejected 21 of 42 potential jurors from serving on the panel. They needed to pick 12 jurors and one alternate from a pool of at least 23 candidates.

In March, Blowe was sentenced in Winchester Circuit Court to 13 years in prison after his conviction in a separate case in which he was accused of filming a sexual encounter with a teenage girl in 2017.
