Fairfax police to investigate death of inmate, 18

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Police in northern Virginia are investigating the death of an 18-year-old inmate who was hospitalized after being found unresponsive in his cell.

The Fairfax County Police Department said in a statement that they had been notified of Sha-Kez Amir Green’s death Sunday morning.

Police say Green had been in hospital care since being found unresponsive in his cell around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, which operates the detention center where he was being held, deputies and medical officials administered CPR.

Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will examine the body but there are no preliminary signs of foul play.

The sheriff’s office is also conducting an administrative investigation.

Green had been incarcerated since Dec. 18, 2018.
