BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder in connection with an assault with a brick that was captured on video and went viral online.
Baltimore police said in a news release Friday that 69-year-old Kenneth Burke had been arrested without incident.
Burke was interviewed by detectives and confessed to the assault, according to the news release. Burke said he and the victim were previous acquaintances and were having a dispute, the news release said.
Online records showed Burke was in custody, and court records did not list an attorney who could comment on his behalf. They show a preliminary hearing in his case has been set for Oct. 27.
The assault was captured on video that spread widely on social media. It showed an assailant hitting the victim in the back of the head with a brick. The victim fell to the ground.
