NFL Columnist: RGIII to stay on Redskins roster

WASHINGTON — Robert Griffin III is expected to remain with the Redskins after all. The Redskins must cut their roster down to 53 players by 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and according to Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, Griffin will be on the roster.

Griffin must still clear the NFL’s concussion protocol before he can play again, but once cleared, he is expected to serve as Kirk Cousin’s backup.

NFL.com reports that the decision to keep Griffin, as opposed to cutting or trading him, has the approval of general manager Scot McCloughan, head coach Jay Gruden and owner Daniel Snyder.
