Report: Jesse Matthew’s lawyer asks for delay of murder trial

WASHINGTON — An attorney for Jesse Matthew Jr. is asking an Albemarle County judge to delay the start of his upcoming murder trial.

Matthew is charged with the abduction and murder of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham.

CBS 6 in Charlottesville reports that Matthew’s lawyer, Jim Camblos, filed a motion saying he needs a DNA expert to help his defense and doesn’t think he can line one up before his trial.

The trial is scheduled to begin June 29, just days after Matthew is tried in Fairfax County on charges he raped and tried to kill a woman in 2005.
