Floating Facebook videos make it easier to watch and scroll

(1/1)

WASHINGTON — Pressing a new button on Facebook lets users pop a video out of their newsfeed, so they can both watch the video and continue scrolling.

The new feature, which is already active on some Facebook accounts, resembles a square inside a square.

After the icon is pressed, the video continues playing, but floats away from the original post. The video can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the desktop, to avoid obscuring the content you’re scrolling through.

The feature won’t let users drift away from Facebook, though — the video stops when you navigate to another website.
