Neighbor: Hong ‘always looking down and walking’

WASHINGTON — Earlier Wednesday, police vehicles sat in the driveway and yellow tape cordoned off a section of the street in front of the Beltsville home of Hong Young, the man police have linked to five shootings in our area in recent days.

The home is on Daisey Creek Terrace in the well-kept Cross Creek Club subdivision.

Prince George’s County Police executed a search warrant at the home, and next-door neighbor Joy Abraham says he saw police removing items in brown
paper bags.

Abraham says Hong’s parents are very friendly, and he’s never had a problem with them, but their son seems to avoid contact.

“We have seen him just walking around, head down, he don’t (sic) look at you straight at all. Never into your face. He’s always looking down and walking.
Even if you say hi, he doesn’t say anything.”

Abraham says he’s not shaken by news of the shootings and all the activity next door to his house.

“We feel bad for people. It happens, you know. It can happen anywhere, and it so happened it is here this time.”
