Man turns himself in after police standoff

BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (AP) — Police say an armed man turned himself in after barricading himself inside a home in a Baltimore suburb for six hours.

Anne Arundel County police say the man surrendered peacefully on Friday evening.

Police were called to the home in Brooklyn Park around 12:50 p.m. Friday. Police say the house belonged to the man’s grandparents.

After officers arrived, police say the man came outside and briefly pointed a rifle at an officer before going back inside. After that, tactical and hostage-negotiating teams came to the scene. Police say the man turned himself in after hours of negotiations. Police say charges against him are pending.
