2 sentenced on bank fraud charges

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Two men from Hampton Roads have been sentenced to prison for conspiracy to commit bank Fraud.

Cameron Allen of Norfolk and Dymond Chappelle of Portsmouth were sentenced in federal court on Friday. Allen was sentenced to 46 months and Chappelle was sentenced to 20 months.

Both men pleaded guilty in May.

Court records show that for three months in 2013 Allen, Chappelle and three others conducted a fraud and identity theft scheme that resulted in the theft of $87,000 from Navy Federal Credit Union.

The records say a co-conspirator illegally obtained nearly 300 apartment lease applications and used that information to gain access to their accounts.

The members of the scheme accessed the accounts of 21 people
