BALTIMORE (AP) — A boy who died at a Maryland summer camp when a tree fell on him during a severe windstorm has been identified as 12-year-old Justin Nicholas Diggs.

A statement released by the camp Friday night said Diggs attended Pikesville Middle School, where he was an honor student.

Diggs was born in Baltimore on Nov. 26, 2001. He died on Tuesday at River Valley Ranch summer camp in Manchester, Maryland, when a severe storm downed several trees on a path where more than 100 children, including Diggs, were walking. Eight other children were injured.

“He loved to swim, play basketball and loved being outside enjoying extreme activities, such as, ziplining, bungee jumping and anything adventurous,” the statement said. “He also loved to draw.”
