Superman

Superman, with his superhuman strength, laser eyes and iconic bodysuit, is probably one of the world's most celebrated heroes. The farm boy originally from Krypton has graced the silver screen multiple times and shows no sign of stopping -- there's a 'Batman vs. Superman' movie in the works for 2016.
Batman Batman -- the dark knight, the caped crusader and by day, billionaire Bruce Wayne -- saves Gotham by night and sometimes, the world. With genius-level intellect, master martial arts and sweet gadgets, this hero holds his own against those with more uncanny abilities using just his wits.
Iron Man Another billionaire, Iron Man or Tony Stark saves the day wearing a powered armored suit that can fly, provides life support and has missiles. Stark is rich, a womanizer and crazy intelligent but has a strong sense of justice.

Thor Thor, the Asgardian god of thunder, wields his magic hammer Mjolnir to fight villains and evil. He has superhuman strength and speed, and with his weapon can manipulate the weather and even fly.
Hulk The Hulk, whose alter ego is Bruce Banner, has super strength, speed, inhuman durability and massive amounts of rage. It's unclear just how strong the Hulk is -- he only gets stronger the angrier he gets, making him a formidable foe.
Black Widow The Black Widow, or Natasha Romanova, is a Russian agent turned American hero with enhanced agility and intense martial arts abilities. The femme fatale joins the Avengers later in her career.
Hawkeye The grandmaster archer is a criminal turned superhero with a deadly aim. He becomes part of the Avengers team.
Spiderman Spiderman got his superpowers from a mutant spider and since then, nothing has quite been the same. He can shoot webs from his wrist, scale skyscrapers and of course, has crazy spidey senses.
Green Lantern The Green Lantern is a different guardian of the galaxy -- an employee of the interstellar law enforcement agency the Green Lantern Corps. The ring imbues superpowers, like superhuman strength and flight.
Catwoman In the DC Comics, Catwoman is known as Selina Kyle, a peak athlete with incredible dexterity. She walks a thin line between criminal and hero, but can hold her own on either side.
Fantastic Four The superhero team of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing gain their powers from cosmic rays. Together they're unstoppable, but only if they can stop squabbling.
X-Men While there are literally thousands of X-men, a few favorites include Rogue, Iceman, Storm and Professor X. Let's not forget Magneto, Cyclops or Jean Gray.
Wolverine Wolverine, with his superhuman senses and adamantium claws, is a master martial artist and marksman. But his courage and leadership abilities makes him one of the more prominent X-men.
Watchmen In 'Watchmen,' an alternate 1960s reality is imagined with superheroes like Doctor Manhattan, Rorsarch and Silk Spectre.
