ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski says a Senate vote on $120 million for a new building for cybersecurity training at the U.S. Naval Academy could be three weeks away.

Mikulski told members of the academy’s Board of Visitors Monday that there is “tremendous support” for the building to help best prepare future Navy leaders in cybersecurity. The House of Representatives would need to concur with the provision.

Plans call for completing the 206,000-square foot building in 2018. The building would house a Center for Cyber Security Studies on the academy’s Annapolis campus.

The academy has emphasized cybersecurity training in recent years. In 2011, the school changed its core curriculum for the first time in a decade to add two cybersecurity courses. It also is now offering a major in cyber operations.
