Man sentenced to 5 years for burglaries

BALTIMORE (AP) — A man who prosecutors say committed dozens of commercial burglaries in four states has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.

Thirty-two-year-old Carl Paschall Jr. of Baltimore was also ordered to pay $200,000 in restitution at sentencing Monday in federal court in Baltimore.

According to his plea agreement, Paschall and others conspired to commit commercial burglaries in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors say the burglars usually cut power lines and telephone lines before using vise grips, sledgehammers, chop saws, grinders and blow torches to break into businesses. They stole cash, money jewelry, cigarettes, lottery tickets and prescription drugs.
