Man sentenced for possessing child pornography

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Maryland man has been sentenced to more than 4 years in prison for traveling to Washington to have sex with a minor.

Thirty-one-year-old Matthew Scanlon of Pasadena had also pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. He was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Washington.

According to government evidence, Scanlon was in online communication with an undercover FBI agent. Prosecutors say Scanlon believed the agent was the father of a minor girl, and he arranged to meet with them in the District.

Scanlon was arrested at the meeting place. Prosecutors say a hard drive seized from his home had 225 images of child pornography.
