(Updated at 9:40 p.m.) Police and paramedics swarmed the Ballston Metro station after a stabbing Sunday night.
According to WMATA, a man was stabbed on the station platform around 8:50 p.m. and is now fighting for his life.
“The suspect and weapon are in custody and the victim has been transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries,” said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel. “No other injuries were reported. The station is open, however, trains are single-tracking between East Falls Church and Ballston stations.”
On Twitter, witnesses described seeing “blood all over the platform.”
