Capitals sign Evgeny Kuznetsov to entry-level contract

WASHINGTON — The four-year wait for Evgeny Kuznetsov is over.

The Washington Capitals signed the Russian player to an entry-level contract beginning this season. Kuznetsov was drafted by the Capitals in 2010, but he chose to play in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League, where he led the team in scoring each season.

He will wear No. 10, the same number Martin Erat wore until his trade last week. Erat and Mike Ribiero, who were both traded to the Phoenix Coyotes, will be in town Saturday for a game against the Capitals.

Goaltender Jaroslav Halak will make his Capitals debut Saturday, and Dmitri Orlov returns from a two-game suspension.
