Montgomery County Police on Thursday released surveillance photos of the man they said robbed a downtown Bethesda bank on Wednesday.

The robbery happened at about 2:15 p.m. at the HSBC Bank (7637 Old Georgetown Rd.), a block from the Bethesda Metro station.

Police said the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money and implying a weapon. The man got an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank. He was last seen walking north on Old Georgetown Road, away from the Metro station.

Police described the suspect as black, 30 to 40 years of age, 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall, 190 to 200 pounds with facial hair. He wore a black jacket, brown wool cap, dark-colored scarf and sunglasses.

Police are hoping someone can identify the man.
