WASHINGTON — It’s Cyber Monday, the biggest online shopping day of the year when there are plenty of bargains out there, if you know where to look. And there is no need to get dressed and go out and brave the lines and crowds like on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. You can do this round of holiday shopping in your pajamas.
According to RetailMeNot.com’s senior editor Trae Bodge, there are great bargains to be had on electronics, entertainment items like video games, and apparel on Cyber Monday.
“I am seeing a lot of strong deals in three major categories,” Bodge says. “We have very expected deals that happen year over year — things like flat screens and tablets and laptops, particularly at Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, Sears, Best Buy, ebay.”
She says keep in mind it’s not like Black Friday, where you have to go early to catch those blockbuster deals.
“It’s a full day — you can do it on your lunch break, or early in the morning, or late in the evening,” Bodge says.
One Cyber Monday tip is to hold off on buying toys, unless a shopper is looking for a really hot item that might sell out. “Toys, very reliably are deeply discounted the closer you get to Christmas,” Bodge says.
Last year was the busiest online shopping day in history on Cyber Monday and there is the belief that record be shattered in 2013.
“We anticipate at least a ten-point jump,” Bodge says.
