Montgomery Co. police release video of person of interest in Silver Spring rape case

WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police have released a video of a person of interest in a rape that occurred in Silver Spring last Friday.

Police say the victim left her apartment in the 8300 block of Garland Avenue around 10:45 p.m. to throw out the trash.

While she was outside, the suspect grabbed her from behind, forced her to the ground and pulled her to a concealed area.

The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask, threatened the woman with a weapon and raped her.

He later fled on foot. Police and K9 officers were unable to track down the suspect.

He is described as white or Hispanic, between 5-feet-8-inches tall and 6-feet tall, with brown eyes.

Police have identified a woman as a person of interest in the case and tracked her to a retail store where she made bought something.

The video released by police shows the woman leaving the store and getting into a car.

Police would like to speak to the woman.
