ShopHouse To Open Wednesday

ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, Bethesda Row

ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, the Chipotle spin-off, will open its Bethesda Row location on Wednesday, according to the company.

The 4820 Bethesda Ave. location, former space of the City Lights of China, will be the fifth for the Chipotle-owned fast casual restaurant. The model is similar to the popular burrito chain — customers pick a base of rice, noodles or salad and then customize with chicken, pork, vegetables, sauces and other selections.

The dishes are drawn from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore and are priced under $10.

The Bethesda location follows two ShopHouse openings in D.C. and two in California. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

It’s part of a new batch of out-of-town fast casual restaurants at Bethesda Row, a group that includes 100 Montaditos and Max Brenner. Chipotle is based in Denver.

A ShopHouse is also planned for White Flint/North Bethesda, where Bethesda Row developer Federal Realty Investment Trust is building Pike & Rose.
