Child killed in Temple Hills hit-and-run

WASHINGTON – Police have identified the girl killed in a fatal hit and run crash Wednesday night.

Seven-year-old Azarya Johnson, of Temple Hills, was pronounced dead at the hospital after the crash.

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. – One child is dead and another is in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash overnight Wednesday in Prince George’s County.

Prince George’s County police say an SUV struck a minivan that was carrying two children and an adult near the intersection of St. Barnabas Road and Temple Hill Road.

All three of the passengers were taken to the hospital, where one of the children was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot after the crash. Police are now looking for her, and say a passenger in her vehicle also was taken to the hospital and is cooperating with authorities.

The crash remains under investigation. It’s not clear if there were additional witnesses, and anyone with information can call police at 301-731-4422.
