Va. man accused of sexually assaulting boy during church camping trip

WASHINGTON – A 62-year-old Clifton, Va., man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy during a church youth group camping trip.

Virginia State Police say Thomas H. Clement was arrested Thursday and has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated sexual battery of a minor. He is being held without bond.

Police say the alleged victim has accused Clement of sexually assaulting him during an October 2009 overnight camping trip to Burke Lake Park in Fairfax County. Police say the trip was a church-sanctioned youth group camping trip, and the church associated with the trip is located in Fairfax County.

Police received the victim’s complaint in February of this year. Authorities are asking anyone with information about Clement or the alleged incident to call 540- 829-7744.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
