D.C. man sentenced to 32 years for teenager’s death

WASHINGTON (AP) – A District of Columbia man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for his role in the murder of a teenage girl whose body was never found and is believed to be in a Virginia landfill.

Brian Gaither was sentenced Tuesday in D.C. Superior Court for the August 2010 killing of 18-year-old Latisha Frazier.

The 25-year-old Gaither pleaded guilty to the killing last year, though later tried unsuccessfully to withdraw his plea.

Prosecutors say Gaither was part of a group of people who lured Frazier to an apartment and beat and choked her because they believed she had stolen money from one of them.

Her body was later placed into a garbage bin, and prosecutors say it’s believed to be in one of two landfills in rural Virginia.
