WASHINGTON – More Americans packed up the house and put down roots in a new city last year and more of those families moved to D.C.
Moving company Atlas Van Lines says their customers are migrating most often to the Washington area for the seventh consecutive year. The second most popular destination was North Carolina, according to the company’s 2012 migration patterns study.
USA Today reports that Millenials, adults between 18 and 34, are most likely to consider moving. About half of Millennials surveyed said they will move in the next year. But it’s buying, not renting, that they have on their minds, according to a survey by Mayflower, another moving company.
Most adults surveyed said they want a newer home and a better neighborhood.
