D.C. woman charged with fatally shooting husband

WASHINGTON – An employee of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center has been charged with killing her husband at their District of Columbia home.

D.C. police said Friday that 27-year-old Diana Lalchan has been charged with second-degree murder. She’s being held without bond.

Police say that Lalchan called 911 just after midnight Thursday to report that she had shot her husband. Police say Lalchan told detectives that she picked up a pistol from the television stand and shot her husband after a series of arguments that she said made her feel unsafe.

Her public defender didn’t immediately return a phone message.

She lists herself as a Walter Reed pharmacist on her LinkedIn pages.

A Walter Reed spokeswoman in Bethesda said the hospital was aware of the charge but couldn’t comment further.
