Va. man becomes the state’s youngest brewery owner

WASHINGTON – Some spend their college years discovering what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Others take the opportunity to party hard and drink plenty of beer. One Virginia man combined the two and is getting ready to debut his new brewery in downtown Leesburg.

When Crooked Run Brewing opens later this year, Jake Endres will be the youngest brewery owner in Virginia.

The 25-year-old says he has been brewing beer for almost five years, the Loudoun Times reports.

“I kind of got into it just because I was curious about it. It is something that is pretty easy to start out,” Endres told the Loudoun Times. “I really never thought I would get as into it as I did when I first started out. So I kept doing it and learning more about it.”

Last year, Endres’ IPA won first place at the Palmetto State Brewers Open in South Carolina. He now grows his own ingredients like raspberries, blackberries and pumpkins, and takes advantage of the state’s wineries and distilleries for inspiration.

He is raising money for his brewery through Kickstarter. Anyone who donates $1,000 will get a special beer tap and receive a brewing lesson from Endres. Click here to donate.
