WASHINGTON – The Super Bowl produces more than creative commercials and plates of chicken wings – it also produces consumer spending.
According to an article on the National Retail Federation, more than 179 million people are expected to watch this year’s Super Bowl game on Sunday.
Even if you’re not shelling out the money to make it down to New Orleans for the game, chances are, you’ll participate in some spending.
The article reports that the average game watcher is estimated to spend almost $69 for the Super Bowl on everything from party food, to new TVs and even athletic apparel to support the favorite team.
The survey by the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association shows that most people who buy food to watch the big game purchase chicken wings, pizza and chips.
